Running a new 240V circuit, waterproofing a floor or trenching to an outdoor unit varies house to house, so we price that in up front rather than raising it later as a change order.

A traditional sauna heater runs on a dedicated 240V circuit, and the City of Seattle SDCI requires an electrical permit for new or relocated wiring like that. A prefab sauna assembled inside an existing room often does not need a building permit for the structure itself, but building a new room around it, or placing an outdoor sauna above the size threshold, can trigger a building permit and, outdoors, zoning setback review. We prepare the drawings and handle the SDCI submittal and inspections as part of the project.

Plan for several weeks for most sauna projects once design and permitting are done. A prefab indoor sauna in a ready room goes quickly, while a custom build or a sauna integrated into a bathroom or addition takes longer because of the framing, waterproofing and finish work involved. Electrical inspection and cedar and heater lead times matter too, which is why we order long-lead items early. You get a schedule at contract.
